TRAIDCRAFT

I think we can say that since the launch of our Traidcraft stall at Holy Trinity some three years ago, it has proved to be very worthwhile. Eileen Martin has a little more recently been responsible for the running of a similar stall at Christ the King and this, thanks to her efforts, is very successful. We as a church have benefitted from the income we have been able to make from the sale of the goods, and I sincerely hope the people in the third world countries have also benefitted.

At the moment we have four people running the stall at Holy Trinity and this has involved two people helping each week. We have recently looked at this schedule and decided that it is not necessary to have two people each week throughout the year and therefore in future, only one person will do this, but any other member who is at church on a Sunday will keep a friendly eye open in case help is needed. We will have two people running the stall when the time is coming up to Christmas and we have a greater variety of goods on sale, such as gift items. Meantime, we will be keeping much to the basic foodstuffs and household items, but we are always pleased to order anything if an order is placed for goods shown in the Traidcraft catalogue.

We would be very appreciative of more people coming on the help rota. The running of the stall is very straightforward, and of course help would be given to any new volunteers.

We were very appreciative of the large cupboard which was provided by Gill Pestel, which I think was surplus to the needs of a club to which she belongs. It has cetainly made a difference to storing goods and handling them each Sunday. A big thank you to Gill.
