Heavenly Bells - And the Bells rang out!
The bells rang out not so much because heavenly bells played at all the
usual events during
the year, but because of our joy and thanksgiving. Celebrations because,
thanks to
outstanding generosity we reached and exceeded the £500 fund raising
target. Our larger set
of bells with sharps and flats (black notes!) has been purchased and played.
As the set didnt
arrive in time to practices properly before Christmas, we are yet to exploit
them fully. Watch
this space (is there a hearing version for this phrase? Answers
to the email address
please!).
During the year the team members have changed. Our new members worked
hard and our
long standing members showed them how. Currently we meet as one group
5:30 p.m. until
6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at Christ the King as this is the best arrangement
for the mix of
people and their availability. Christ the King now has an embryo music
group, so we have
some competition expect to see both groups playing for the 11:15
a.m. Sunday service.
We plan to repeat our extremely successful Summer Sounds
concert that took place in
August. Along with the 100 raffle, it raised the final amount of money
for our new bells. The
concert had a mix of musical talents and audience participation and was
one of the most
talked about events of 2004. In 2005 it is likely this will be in support
of the continuing
Tsunami appeal.
I end with thanks to Jean Archer, whose patience and enthusiasm keeps
me going; a round of
applause to the Heavenly Bells team of ringers; and a big thank you to
you our audience and
loyal supporters.
