Traditional Morris Events: November, December and Christmas
This is the time-of-year for many Guisers and Mumming Plays.
Tracking the many performances is difficult! One way is to look for
past folk play performances.
- Greensleeves MM: 2nd Saturday November, South
Wall, St Paul's - 11 am & after procession
Lord mayor's Show, The Black Friar - after the procession
- Colne Royal Burnley Tour: Saturday nearest the 15th
Dec. Starting 10:30 am
- Taunton Deane MM: Saturday before Christmas -
Border Tour of Taunton, starting at 11am in the Market
- Original Welsh Border Men: Last Saturday before
Christmas Tour of Worcestershire - White Ladies Aston,
Pershore, Upton-upon-Severn and Worcester.
Boxing Day - St Stephen's Day
Note that Boxing Day and St Stephen's day are not always the same day!
If Christmas Day is a Saturday, then modern practice has a holiday on
the Monday, and is called Boxing Day. St Stephen's Day is always
the day after Christmas Day. You are advised to check the day for
all the events listed for Boxing Day.

- Blackheath MM: Meet 12 noon Princess of Wales on Blackheath;
The Crown, Blackheath Village; Richard the 1st (Tollyshop) in Royal

- Bristol MM: Keynsham Mummers Play - Keynsham Town Centre, 11.30, The New Inn, 12.00
- Broadwood MM:Tour of Horsham area (including Mummers
Play)
- East Suffolk MM: Lunchtime Tour of Pubs on the edge
of Ipswich
- Ewell St. Mary's MM: Tour of Ewell village, starting
10 am, Green Man and ending with the mummer's play at the
Mill.
- Flamborough Sword Dancers: Flamborough,
Humberside
- Green Man's Morris of Birmingham: The Fox and Hounds,
The Railway Tavern, Shenstone, Staffs 12 noon, Lichfield
tradition dances, Sword dancing and Mummers.
- Greensleeves MM: Rose and Crown, Wimbledon Village,
12.15pm ; The Hand in Hand, Wimbledon Village, 1.15pm
- Grenoside Sword Dancers: Grenoside, Sheffield
- Handsworth Sword Dancers: Handsworth, Sheffield
- Hartley MM: The Rose and Crown, Wrotham (lunchtime),
including Mummers Play
- Helier MM: The Precinct, St Helier (morning), The
Moulin de Lecq. St Helier (afternoon)
- Mendip MM: The Plough Inn, Wrington - Noon ; The
Plough Inn, Congresbury - 1pm
- Moulton MM: 11am to Noon on Stocks Hill, Moulton,
Northamptonshire. Local Mummers Play and Morris Dancing
- Old Glory: The Cutty Wren Ceremony on the night of
St. Stephen's Day at Middleton. Torchlight procession, dance
& song.
- Packington MM: The Bull and Lion, Packington
(lunchtime)
- Rattlejag Morris: 12pm The King William,
Scaftworth nr. Bawtry, North Notts, 1pm The Blacksmith's Arms,
Everton, even nearer Bawtry, North Notts.
- Redcar Sword Dancers: Always 26 December -
outside church gates at 12 noon at Greatham, near Hartlepool, Co
Durham. Greatham Sword Dance and Play. A unique event, this could
be the only example of a longsword dance and it's play still
being performed together.
- Ripley MM: Ripley market Place (11am), local pub and
Red Lion, Fritchley (1pm)
- Thames Valley MM: Claygate village (Surrey), The Swan
(Esher), Foley Arms, The Hare and Hounds (where the new squire
dances-in ), The Winning Horse and The Griffin.
- Traditional Ilmington MM: Boxing Day tour of
Shipston-on-Stour to finish at The Howard Arms, Ilmington.
- Wadard MM: Dance at The Wheatsheaf at High Cross Road.
