2nd Flitwick Girls' Brigade
A very big thank you to everyone who helped to fill the Christmas hamper for the homeless. It was full to overflowing when I took it to the Sign Post home in Bury Park Luton on Christmas Eve.
Mrs Heathfield has resigned as President of 2nd Flitwick Girls Brigade this month. May we take this opportunity of thanking her for the many years of support for the work of the Girls Brigade at Flitwick.
Tuesday the 22nd of January was our Poetry and Praise evening. Every girl took part in items such as poetry, music, dance, song, and drama.
Thank you Gaynor for your message and for handing out the awards to the girls. It was a lovely evening with the young ladies sharing their many talents with others.
Saturday the 26th of January, we were treated to a meal laid on by the church with another display of talent by the not so young members of the church for our entertainment. Thank you, it was very much appreciated.
February and March is always a very busy time for the Girls Brigade, we encourage the girls to take part in the Young Peoples Festival and the Girls Brigade also hold their district competitions at this time. One of the entries this year is "collections". We would like your help in collecting foreign coins that are no longer legal tender since January 2002. Following the competition we will donate these to Pasque hospice in Luton who will be able to benefit from them. Please remember Lian as she attends the young leaders training at Flitwick on the weekend of the 15th-17th of February. Also the other girls and officers of the district who will be present.

Housing a Canadian Choir
Many of you will have fond memories of the pulpit exchange which brought Rev Tom Murray & his wife, Brenda, to us in 2000 from Stirling, Ontario, Canada.
On our recent trip Margaret and I were most warmly welcomed to stay the night in their home, a huge building which was formerly the church manse and of which John & Maureen Millard brought back such vivid memories.
During our conversations which ranged over the problems of the world and the current situation in our respective churches (amongst other things), Tom raised the possibility of bringing his church choir - of whom he speaks very highly - on a tour of the U.K. in the early summer of 2003.
He hopes to be able to take the choir to Scotland and to Wigton. One of his plans (which are still at a very early stage) is to possibly stage a concert - probably at Ampthill on a Saturday and then, with the choir, to lead worship in a couple of our churches on Sunday.
As I say, these plans are at a very early stage, and to enable them to happen we, as a section, would need to find room to accommodate between 20 & 30 people in our homes. I am pretty confident that we can do that but I would like to hear from anyone able to offer such hospitality, probably in June or early July 2003. Please contact me a.s.a.p. so that I can reassure Tom that the choir will have beds in Beds if the tour goes ahead.
